PRESENTS

ROMERIA

A FILM by Carla Simón

For Immediate Release – Films We Like, in association with Janus Films, is proud to present Romeria, the third feature film from director Carla Simón (Alcarràs). The film had its world premiere at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, where it was in the main competition. Romeria opens in theatres in Canada on July 3, 2026.

In 2004, an orphaned young woman, Marina, travels to Vigo to seek information about her biological father, who died from HIV/AIDS, following years of struggle with substance abuse. Initially intending to rectify her birth certificate following a scholarship opportunity in a film school in Barcelona, Marina meets her family on her father's side, who are reluctant to revisit their past due to the strong stigma against AIDS victims in the 1990s and early 2000s.
