SEPTEMBER SONGS

A FILM by LARRY WEINSTEIN

NEW 4K REMASTER

For Immediate Release – Unseen since its original release in 1994, September Songs – The Music of Kurt Weill, directed by award-winning filmmaker Larry Weinstein and produced by Rhombus Media, returns in glorious 4K resolution.

Inspired by Hal Willner’s landmark tribute album Lost in the Stars, the film is a dazzling, genre-defying celebration of Kurt Weill’s music, performed by an extraordinary lineup of artists: Lou Reed, Nick Cave, Elvis Costello, Betty Carter, PJ Harvey, William S. Burroughs, Mary Margaret O’Hara, Charlie Haden, The Persuasions, and more. Each performance is staged against visually striking tableaux—from 1930s factory floors and smoky French cabarets to the bright lights of Broadway—capturing the restless, innovative spirit of Weill himself.

The 4K restoration was produced by Sphinx Productions, in association with Larry Weinstein Productions, with the generous support of Telefilm Canada.

The 4K restoration of September Songs will premiere at the Big Ears Festival in Knoxville, TN in March 2026.
