Films We Like presents the Canadian Premiere of Jacek Borcuch’s Dolce Fine Giornata, winner of the World Cinema Dramatic Special Jury Award at the Sundance Film Festival 2019 for the performance of Krystyna Janda who portrays a Polish Jewish Nobel Prize winner living in the Tuscan countryside. Krystyna Janda is considered one of the greatest actresses in Polish cinema appearing in many award-winning films directed by Polish filmmaker Andrzej Wajda.
The film’s true tour de force is Janda who infuses her protagonist with both the willful selfishness of a child and the complicated desires of a woman finding her way in life’s later stages. – VIFF
