Films We Like is pleased to announce the acquisition of 3 new documentary films for release in 2017: BECOMING BOND, LEANING INTO THE WIND, and QUEST.

BECOMING BOND

Winner: 2017 SXSW Film Festival Audience Award (Visions)

Fresh from its premiere at SXSW and slated for Hot Docs 2017, director Josh Greenbaum’s Becoming Bond is the stranger-than-fiction true story of George Lazenby, a poor Australian car mechanic who, through an unbelievable set of circumstances, landed the role of James Bond in On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969), despite having never acted a day in his life. Then after being offered the next seven Bond films and a $1 million signing bonus, he turned it all down... Featuring stylish recreations and an extensive sit-down interview with the Lazenby himself, Becoming Bond is a fun, cheeky look at one of the men behind the famous tuxedo.

LEANING INTO THE WIND: ANDY GOLDSWORTHY

Sixteen years after the release of the groundbreaking film Rivers and Tides, director Thomas Riedelsheimer has returned to work with the artist Andy Goldworthy. Leaning into the Wind: Andy Goldsworthy follows the artist on his exploration of the layers of his world and the impact of the years on himself and his art. As Goldsworthy introduces his own body into the work it becomes at the same time even more fragile and personal and also sterner and tougher, incorporating massive machinery and crews on his bigger projects. Riedelsheimer’s exquisite film illuminates Goldsworthy’s mind as it reveals his art.

QUEST

“A sweeping and intimate documentary about the struggles of an average American family.” ~ Indiewire

Filmed with vérité intimacy for over a decade, Quest is the moving portrait of a family in North Philadelphia. Christopher “Quest” Rainey, along with his wife Christine’a, aka “Ma Quest,” open the door to their home music studio, which serves as a creative sanctuary from the strife that grips their neighborhood. Over the years, the family evolves as everyday life brings a mix of joy and unexpected crisis. Set against the backdrop of a country now in turmoil, Quest is a tender depiction of an American family whose journey is a profound testament to love, healing and hope.
